Try some of Frank's cake

Frank Castle over at Obviously Pseudonymous reveals some solid thinking about J.S. Mill's Utilitarianism and On Liberty in his post "Having our cake and eating it too.". A solid quote I noted:
The problems with Mill’s utility, as mentioned briefly above, are chiefly that all that is right will not necessarily make the most happy, and that Mill assumes people are good, or at least makes no recognition of that fact that due to sin people will sometimes make poor choices. Indeed, by following the idea of utility and rightness or wrongness being determined by the outcome of a choice, one may not be able to determine the rightness or wrongness of an action immediately after said action, or ever really, as our perceptions change or new information comes to light. While Christians certainly make decisions based on utility, such as selecting one group from many to help simply because of the maximum impact of their time and money, they also recognize that some things are simply right or wrong regardless of perception or information.
