There's no such thing as a "good divorce"

All divorce, however classified, is bad on children, but conventional wisdom says a lot of the negative effects can be avoided if it's a "good" divorce. However, a new study suggests that there's no such thing as a "good divorce." According to the study,

Even after a "good" divorce, 52% of respondents say that family life was stressful (compared with 6% from happy marriages and 35% from unhappy but low-conflict marriages). Half report that even as children they "always felt like an adult" (compared with 36% and 39% in the intact-family groups).

As much of a threat to the institution of marriage that the gay lobby poses, it's even more imperative that heterosexuals fix their own marriage (aka divorce) problem. The legal concept of "no-fault" divorce is awful, and should be eliminated. I believe it should be harder to get married and harder to get divorced. Although it doesn't effect the arguments against gay marriage, it is still important that the traditional marriage folks show that marriage is still considered sacred by heterosexuals.

I'll start with myself: I vow that I will carefully consider the details of my marriage (who, when, why, how, etc.) and commit to remaining faithful to my spouse and never getting a divorce.
