Sarcasm as a social contract
Good 'ole Doug--this kid is steadily gaining on HotOrNot for the coveted spot of "most-visited-website." (A little sarcasm for ya, Doug) Anyway, check out his post on sarcasm as a social contract. It's a rather ingenious and refreshing insight into the art of sarcasm, not to mention a defense against the "it only tears people down" tripe. Read the whole thing.
Josh, your comments are awesome:
Josh, your comments are awesome:
"We use sarcasm to relax the mood, celebrate, and remember that life is not as serious as some would try and make it."[and the best freaking comment, which made me stamp my feet and laugh aloud?]
"I dont think that we should go out and lightsaber people to death in the name of improvemnt...I might allow some saber deathing, mainly because lightsabers are freaking awesome."
If we do not have to fight for who we are, for what we believe in, and for what is right, then we will surely become the seat cushions for those with larger butts then our own. (I just really wanted to type that line)
