No, most animals have finely developed senses of self-control as a matter of self-preservation.
It's not so much a matter of self-control as it is of knowledge and awareness. Who's to say sex or pregnancy in a loveless marriage will be less traumatic than sex in a loving pre-marital relationship?
Besides, sex needn't be dangerous IF people are taught the truth about it.
Just floating an idea here, Frank...I believe sex is a distinctly moral act (in that it's inseperable from morals), so if that's true would that make public school sex education by definition "stepping into that grey zone"?
Also, don't schools address moral issues all the time? Morality is unavoidable, especially in a setting involving teaching people.
Loyal, when will you understand that I'm not claiming anything about myself here. My statements and beliefs about morality is about something outside of me--God. I don't claim to be perfect in upholding all the ideals I tout, but that's the beauty in living under grace, not law.
I agree that the bulk of specific moral teachings should be the responsibility of parents/family. But society, whether we want it to or not, teaches and exemplifies some sort of belief concerning morality. The strongest society is based on the Judeo-Christian ethic, and when most people agree with or believe in it, society functions well foundationally. But when society starts to discard that ethic, and people go searching for their own "truth", society's moral cohesion get's discarded as well. Secularism seems to be taking ahold of our culture now. Let's fight it to preserve the truth and to preserve our society.
