Somebody record this: an intelligent ruling in California!

For once, a reasonable and sane ruling by a California judge! San Francisco Mayor Ganin Newsom acted way out of line of his authority in issuing marriage licences to gay couples.

Chief Justice Ronald George, writing for the majority, noted that Thursday's ruling doesn't address "the substantive legal rights of same sex couples." Instead, it insists that local officials can't legislate state law from city halls or county government centers.

Anti-gay-marriage groups hailed the ruling.

I prefer the term "pro-traditional marriage."
