Hatred--on either side--solves nothing

It sucks that people get so worked up about something that they have to take it out on innocent people. Such was the case with the "gang of youths" who murdered a Pakistani man visiting family in Britain. There's disagreement over whether the attack was Islamophobic or just racially motivated, but that's not the point: this activity is evil and cannot be justified. Both the Muslim world and the hateful westerners enraged at terrorism share blame.

To the teens, and other morally-confused persons who react to terrorism with more violence: you just became those you hate, and at the expense of other innocents. Be vigilant and cautious where it's logical to be such, but 1) don't return the hatred and bigotry they have for us with your own "righteous anger," and 2) don't ever take matters into your own hands. If you have suspicions about something or someone, be responsible and go to the proper authorities. Don't treat another man unjustly just because his skin looks like the terrorists'. Timothy McVeigh was white, so are John Walker Lindh and Richard Reid--do I automatically suspect you of terrorism, you white westerners?

To the Muslim world which fosters most of the world's terrorism: do your part to stop this madness before it begins! If Islam is truly peaceful at its core, prove it to the world with action--shut down the maddrassas, stop the indoctrination of your people into vessels of hatred. Show courage and stand up for the rights of all people--women included--to live free. I am tentatively pleased to know that support for radical terrorism Islam is waning in the Muslim world, although not everywhere. It's a start.

Each side has a responsibility to curb its culture's deficiencies. On your mark, get set, GO.
