Wisdom from the Council of Trent

A highly respected intellectual friend of mine read my conversation with a(nother) liberal and responded thus:
I am very glad to see the non-confrontational nature of the discussion…bravo!

I also think you hit the nail on the head: he’s simply rebelling against his upbringing.

Assuming he’s pro-life, you might point out the utter intolerance in the Democrat party for pro-lifers. They were denied any access to the stage at the convention at any time, DNC chairman Terry McCauliff (sp?) refused to put a link on the DNC site to a Democrats for Life group, etc. Richard John Neuhaus has discussed this a lot on www.FirstThings.com. He left the Democrats (he was a delegate during the McGovern revolution) over the issue. I’d really press him on this issue (nicely). Because abortion votes fall largely along party lines, a vote for a democrat is usually a vote for abortion. John Kerry was the first presidential candidate ever to be officially endorsed by Planned Parenthood and NARAL, etc. They staunchly oppose pro-life judges as well.

Keep up the good work.
