Modern art is a joke

Potty humor--literally--has taken over the art world. Someone (who's the authority on art, anyway?) named Marcel Duchamp's Fountain--a urinal that he pulled out of the wall of his favorite bar--"the most influential modern art work of all time." Take a look at this fantastic and inspiring creative wonder:

That "someone" is in reality a poll of 500 art critics. You or I may not like Duchamp's "Fountain" but the fact remains that it is one of the most influential modern works of art ever created. With "Fountain" Duchamp challenged the idea of what could be thought of as art...his ideas shook up the entire art world. Fantastic? Perhaps not. Inspiring? Obviously to quite a few. I did laugh derisively, but at this misguided post, not at Duchamp's attempts to make people think outside the box. "Influential" doesn't have to mean "best".
