The combined power of scripture and song

Just like most Christians, specific passages of scripture are especially meaningful. What's so great is when I love a certain song because it refers to my favorite passage(s), and I turn around and love that scripture even more because it reminds me of a favorite song! My favorite book in the Bible is Philippians, and one of my favorite passages is 3:7-11. There are two songs in particular that every reading of this passage brings to my ears. The first is "Nothing Compares" by Third Day. The second is below.

Thus, without any further ado, I humbly present another "extraneous song lyric":

I Boast No More
By Isaac Watts and Sandra McCracken

No More My God, I boast no more
Of all the duties I have done
I quit the hopes I held before
To trust the merits of Thy Son

No more my God
No more my God
No more my God
I boast no more.

Now, for the loss I bear his name
What was my gain I count my loss
My former pride I call my shame
And nail my glory to His cross Yes

And I must, I will esteem

All things but loss for Jesus' sake
O may my soul be found in Him
And of His righteousness partake
Amen, amen

The best obedience of my hands
Dares not appear before Thy throne
But faith can answer Thy demands
By pleading what my Lord has done
