Aristotle wouldn't approve

The Philosopher wrote that youths should not be involved in politics or philosophical discussion because they are too passionate and inexperienced in the ways of the world. Ironically, a young mayoral candidate uses as a slogan what Aristotle condemns.

Erin Feehan-Nelson is 17 years old, and she's running for mayor in her home town of St. Mary's Point, MN. Her slogan is "Uncorrupted by years of experience." A high school senior, Erin observed that the current candidate for mayor was running unopposed, and wanted to "give the people a choice."

Despite legal requirements that a candidate be at least 21 and a registered voter, Erin blew off those concerns and stated: "I doubt the judge would be able to say no to the popular vote. The people's right to choose prevails over (state law)."

You go girl.

Sorry to sound like a wet-blanket... but this girl also said that popular opinion is more important than the law. I am not to keen on a girl with that type of attitude. It shows a serious lack of understanding what the government job is (which is to enforce the law).

I say DON'T go girl..

Point taken. I just thought it was pretty cool that a 17-year old was running for public office!
